Next meeting: Monday 7th May  (there will not be a class on Monday 2nd April as it’s the Easter Holidays).

We are continuing with our theme of ‘black and white’ photography, with the chance of exhibiting our work later on in the year.

At the May meetup we’ll discuss tonality in the monochrome image: what effect does high key, mid key and low key have on the viewer? How do photographers place and manipulate tones to influence their images? How can we emphasize or subdue them in our own black and white images to say what we want?

We’ll start by discussing others’ images then look at exposure and manipulation of an image as an example of visualisation of tonal scale. Finally there will be an opportunity to experiment with your own images, so please bring at least one image with you on USB memory stick, and if you have a laptop with photo manipulation software please bring that too.

We look forward to seeing you at Writtle College, Design 2, 6.45pm (for a 7pm start, until 9pm).

  1. Hi! My son is just about to start A2 photography and is interested in coming along on 3rd July for the surrealism talk…is it ok to just turn up? What’s the deal?
